While Soohyun mutters to himself, Kiseob spreads out his blanket evenly over his futon, humming cheerfully. He probably should be listening to whatever Soohyun is saying, since Kiseob isn't really sure if it's directed at him, but he's tired of listening to his hyung worry. The cameras come, film them saying goodnight, and leave. The bed moves with Soohyun's weight as he rolls over, and suddenly, Kiseob is struck by an idea- one of pure genius, in his opinion. Shoving away his blanket, he stands up as quietly as possible, observing Soohyun in his bed. One step, two, and the floorboards creak. Kiseob freezes, one foot still in the air, but by some miracle the sleeping boy remains in his comatose state. With a triumphant grin, Kiseob sits down and fills the space next to Soohyun, facing the singer's back. The bed shifts again, Soohyun groggily rolling over. "Kiseob?" He groans, rubbing his eyes. "What do you think you're doing?" Kiseob instinctively feigns a pout, despite the fact that Soohyun is unable to see it in the dark. "Did you really expect me to sleep on the floor?" A yawn. "Is it umcomfortable?" He asks, beginning to sit up. "We can switch places if you want..." "No, no," Kiseob whispers, tugging on Soohyun's pajama sleeve. "We'll both sleep better in the bed. What's the big deal? There's plenty of room." He can feel Soohyun staring at him, even in the darkness, and he starts to blush. "Xander and Kibum are sharing a bed." He makes out Soohyun nod vaguely before falling back onto his pillow. "Just make sure you move back before the cameras get here," the older boy mumbles. Kiseob grins, pulling the blanket around him. He listens for the first faint sounds of Soohyun's snores before scooting just a bit closer, his nose barely touching Soohyun's back. The next night Kiseob bounces right into the bed when the cameramen leave, even before Soohyun turns out the lights. Smiling to himself, he stretches across the entire space on his stomach, ignoring the annoyed smack at his ankle. Another smack, and Kiseob looks over his shoulder at Soohyun, sticking out his tongue. He gets a slight smile in return. "Move it." Soohyun grabs his ankle, threatening to drag him off the bed. "Unless you'd rather sleep on the floor tonight." Kiseob rolls his eyes, but complies, flopping over to one side. Once Soohyun is in his usual near-fetal position, curled up toward the wall, Kiseob rolls closer, his hand lightly touching his hyung's side. All he gets is a slight groan and a hand swatting at him, so he slides his hand around Soohyun's waist, snuggling himself against the older boy's back. He struggles against Kiseob's hold on him for a few seconds before surrendering with a sigh. "I'm tired." "I am, too," he replies firmly, pressing his cheek against Soohyun's shoulder, feeling the heat rise in his face and praying Soohyun wouldn't turn around. To his surprise, Soohyun pats the arm encircling his waist affectionately. "Just go to bed." Their third and final night living together is a flurry of activity following the fanmeet. After carrying mountains of gifts and being quizzed on their Korean immediately afterward, Kiseob and Soohyun both crawl into the bed without a word. Kiseob is almost asleep when he realizes, this is it. Tomorrow night he would be back at home, in his tiny single bed with the blue sheets his mother picked out for him, with no one there to annoy or be there the countless times Kiseob wakes up during the night. His chest tightens, and he tries to imagine what Soohyun's bed looks like. That only worsens the hollow feeling building in his stomach, and he reaches out a little too roughly and hugs Soohyun. This time, no questions are asked and there is no struggle, only a slight grunt. "Hyung," he whispers, the urgency in his voice poorly masked. "Mmm?" Soohyun rolls halfway over. "What's up?" Kiseob's voice catches in his throat when he tries to answer, because he doesn't know how to say what's wrong or if he can vocalize what's going through his mind. Tears blur his already poor vision and he blurts out the first thing to pop into his mind: "Kiss me goodnight." His arms tense and he yanks them away, fighting the urge to leap from the bed, run from the room, out of the dorm- anywhere. The silence is a roar, filling the room and his brain, mingling with his frantic thoughts and he doesn't dare to breath. He forces his eyes closed when Soohyun goes to turn around, fearing the look on his hyung's face and the questions he knows must follow. Instead, there's a soft laugh and a brush of lips against his forehead. "Goodnight, Kiseobbie." |
